Rohtak, August 26, 2025: A Two Day Workshop on Media Skills & Capacity Building commenced in the Department of Journalism & Mass Communication of MDU today.
Eminent Journalist and Former Editor of Indian Express; Parveen K Modi was the Invited Speaker. He spoke on Future Roadmap for Budding Journalists.
He said that developing language skills, critical, analytical thinking is necessary to be an effective journalist. He said that as a reporter, one must go deeply into the matter to know the real story. He shared many anecdotes from his rich journalistic experience. Modi emphasized on regular reading and writing practice to master the language.
HOD Prof. Randeep Rana said that this workshop is being organized to facilitate capacity building of the students for a fulfilling career in the media sector.
Faculty member Sunit Mukherjee conducted the workshop session today. He introduced the Invited Speaker. Mukherjee said that apart from media skills, strong passion to excel in journalism is an absolute must. He said that students must develop the habit of extra reading to broaden their knowledge base. He also proposed the Vote of Thanks.
In the beginning, Faculty Member Dr. Naveen Kumar welcomed the Invited Speaker and motivated students to benefit from the knowledge and wisdom of the distinguished journalist.
Students of the department along with students of Media Studies of Lal Nath Hindu College, Rohtak attended the workshop.
