Electric SUV now in CM Mohan Yadav's official convoy, carries 'Viksit Bharat 2047' message
In a significant step aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for fuel conservation measures and sustainability, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has become the first CM in the country to incorporate an electric vehicle into his official convoy.
Bhopal, June 3 (IANS) In a significant step aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for fuel conservation measures and sustainability, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has become the first CM in the country to incorporate an electric vehicle into his official convoy.
On June 3, CM Yadav added a Mahindra XUV 9e electric SUV to his fleet. The Chief Minister travelled in the EV from his official residence to the state hangar in Bhopal, setting a strong example of environmental consciousness in governance.
According to the manufacturer, the vehicle can cover up to 500 km on a single charge, making it a practical and eco-friendly addition to the Chief Minister’s mobility arrangements.
The car’s registration plate -- MP-02-VB-2047 -- carries deep symbolic meaning. ‘VB’ stands for “Viksit Bharat”, while ‘2047’ reflects Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a developed India by the 100th year of Independence.
Equipped with modern features, including a 360-degree camera, the vehicle reflects both technological advancement and the Chief Minister’s commitment to green mobility. Drivers assigned to the EV have also received specialised training for its operation, a press note issued here on Wednesday said.
CM Mohan Yadav has consistently emphasised environmental conservation as an integral part of development. He has been actively promoting solar energy initiatives and recently participated in the release of vultures and crocodiles in the state.
The Chief Minister believes that “development remains incomplete without environmental conservation” and views solar-powered alternatives as a path towards sustainable progress not just for India, but for the world.
This move is part of Yadav’s broader efforts towards austerity. Recently, in Indore, he travelled from HR Green to Rajwada in a Tempo Traveller along with public representatives and officials. During his Singrauli visit, he arrived at the venue in a tourist bus.
The number of vehicles in his convoy has also been significantly reduced.
By choosing an electric vehicle for official use, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has reinforced his government’s focus on sustainability, self-reliance and responsible governance. The step is expected to encourage greater adoption of green technology across government departments and inspire citizens towards cleaner mobility choices, the press note said.
This initiative not only supports “Viksit Bharat 2047” but also sends a powerful message that environmental responsibility and administrative simplicity can go hand in hand.
