Electoral Literacy Club Quiz Competition
The Department of Library and Information Science at Panjab University, Chandigarh, organised a Quiz Competition under the Electoral Literacy Club on the theme “Youth Engagement in Electoral Awareness.” The event was held to raise awareness among students about the importance of voting, democratic participation, and electoral procedures. Faculty members, research scholars, and students actively took part in the event.
Chandigarh, March 11, 2026: The Department of Library and Information Science at Panjab University, Chandigarh, organised a Quiz Competition under the Electoral Literacy Club on the theme “Youth Engagement in Electoral Awareness.” The event was held to raise awareness among students about the importance of voting, democratic participation, and electoral procedures. Faculty members, research scholars, and students actively took part in the event.
The quiz aimed to encourage young voters to understand their rights and responsibilities within a democratic system. Questions covering the Indian electoral system, voter awareness, the role of youth in democracy, and the functioning of the Election Commission were included.
The event was organised under the guidance of Dr. Khuspreet Singh Brar, Chairperson, and Dr. Shiv Kumar, Nodal Officer, who highlighted the importance of electoral literacy among young citizens. They stressed that informed and active youth participation in elections strengthens democracy and promotes responsible governance. Students were urged to stay informed about electoral processes and to contribute positively towards building a robust democratic society.
The competition saw enthusiastic participation from students, making the event both informative and engaging. It provided a platform for students to enhance their knowledge of electoral practices and fostered a sense of civic responsibility.
