Elaborate arrangements for smooth and hassle-free procurement of wheat: DC

Ludhiana, April 4, 2024: Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney on Thursday said that elaborate arrangements had been made by the district administration for the smooth procurement and lifting of wheat this season. She presided over a meeting of officers from the Food, Civil and Supplies department, as well as district managers of procurement agencies to review the arrangements for procurement and lifting at the district administrative complex. 

Sawhney stated that all arrangements for the purchase had already been finalized and the administration would lift every single grain from the markets. As the wheat had not yet arrived in the grain markets of the district, she noted that efforts were being made to ensure seamless procurement with the active support of all stakeholders. She also instructed the District Managers of all procurement agencies to ensure that farmers do not face any inconvenience during the season.

Sawhney added that there was a sufficient availability of gunny bags in all purchase centers. She stated that Sub Divisional Magistrates had been asked to supervise procurement operations. Additionally, arrangements for drinking water, cleanliness, sheds, toilets, and flood lights had been made in the grain markets to facilitate food growers.
