Chandigarh, April 2, 2014: In order to supervise the smooth procurement of wheat across the state in an effective manner, the Punjab government has deputed eight senior IAS officers to monitor the entire procurement process.
Disclosing this here today a spokesman of the Chief Minister’s Office said that as per the orders issued by the state Chief Secretary Rakesh Singh here today, A Venuprasad IAS has been allotted Jalandhar, Kapurthala and Ludhiana districts, Hussan Lal IAS has been allotted Sri Muktsar Sahib and Faridkot districts, Ajit Singh Pannu IAS has been allotted Patiala, Sangrur, Fatehgarh Sahib and Barnala districts, Ashok Gupta IAS has been allotted SAS Nagar and Rupnagar districts, VK Sharma IAS has been allotted Ferozepur, Fazilka and Moga districts, DK Tiwari IAS has been allotted Bathinda and Mansa districts, R. Venkatratnam IAS has been allotted Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran and Pathankot districts whereas Vikas Partap IAS, has been allotted SBS Nagar and Hoshiarpur districts.
The spokesman further said that the state government had directed these officers to personally visit the grain markets of the different districts allotted to them for monitoring the progress of ongoing wheat procurement in these districts on the daily basis so that this gigantic task could be accomplished in a hassle free, quick and smooth manner. These officers have been asked to make all out efforts to ensure smooth and prompt procurement of Wheat on one hand and facilitate the farmers in getting timely payment of their produce on the other, so that they do not face any inconvenience for the sale of their produce in the mandis.
