Educational visit to Science City organised by PG Department of Computer Science and IT of Lyallpur Khalsa College

An educational visit to Pushpa Gujral Science City, Kapurthala, was organized by the Department of Computer Science & IT of Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar, where 26 students participated in workshop on Science Journalism through vernacular media. Principal, Prof. Jasreen Kaur, in her message, appreciated the Department for this great effort and encouraged the students to get maximum benefit from this visit.

Jalandhar, September 2, 2023: An educational visit to Pushpa Gujral Science City, Kapurthala, was organized by the Department of Computer Science & IT of Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar, where 26 students participated in workshop on Science Journalism through vernacular media. Principal, Prof. Jasreen Kaur, in her message, appreciated the Department for this great effort and encouraged the students to get maximum benefit from this visit.

In the workshop Varinder Singh Walia (Editor Punjabi Jagran), Baljeet Bali (Editor Babushahi), Meghraj Mitter (founder Taraksheel Society) were the expert speakers of the workshop. The experts shared their experiences and provided adequate knowledge about their respective field.

While addressing the students, Sh. Varinder Walia emphasized on relevance and the need of scientific reporting in today’s scenario, whereas Mr. Bali talked about how the principles of science should be used while reporting. Meghraj Mitter encouraged all not to believe blindly and to find out a logical explanations for the superstitions and myths flourishing in our society.

Prof. Sanjeev Kumar Anand (Head of Department) said that such activities are often organised by the Department to meet the curriculum. He added that this was a necessary step toward learning the practical aspects of journalism and media. During the visit, students participated enthusiastically. Prof. Himanshu and Prof. Ravinder Kaur accompanied the students during this visit.
