Education Minister exhorts youth to spread peace, love & harmony

Ludhiana, February 16, 2023: Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains on Thursday exhorted the youth to spread the message of peace, love and harmony and stand for the welfare of society.


Speaking on the concluding day of World Interfaith Harmony Week being celebrated in Punjab by Team 1699 in association with CityNeeds concluded in local SCD Government College, Cabinet Minister said that the above 65-percent population of India was below 35 and no country in this world has such a younger population. He said that this generation could bring revolutionary changes in society with their power of spreading love and unity in society. 


Bains said that unity was of utmost importance for making the nation developed and the youth can do wonders in making India a superpower by ensuring love and harmony in all sections of society. He asserted that young people have the power to change the world and they are an asset to any country. He said that no religion was greater than humanity and Almighty always blesses those who spread love and brotherhood. People must be ready to help others always and call education a key for inclusive growth and social harmony.


The Minister also stated that the Punjab government was committed to revamp the education system of the state and efforts were already being made to ensure top-class infrastructure in government schools and colleges. 


The series of activities during the world interfaith harmony week were joined by religious leaders and followers of Buddhism, Valmiki Samaj, Jainism, Christianity, Muslims, Hinduism & Sikhsim. 


The world interfaith harmony week celebrations were launched on 1st February at Ramgariha Girls College by Mandeep Singh Sidhu Police Commissioner and Surabhi Malik Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana.  Various scholars gave the basic introduction of Interfaith.


Thereafter workshops were conducted with respective religious leaders where the students interacted with them and asked questions.


An Interfaith Harmony Walk was conducted last Sunday and participated by more than 500 students from different institutions. The walk started from Christ Church and visited Durga Mata Mandir, Jama Masjid and concluded at Gurudwara Dukhnivaran Sahib. 


On the conclusion day many students participated in a declamation on interfaith and presented their self written papers. Finally, selected students were given an opportunity to present their papers to all audiences and were fully rewarded by the chief guest.


Principal Sukhwant Singh from Sikh faith, Shahi Imam Punjab Mohammad Usman Rehmani Ludhianvi, Swami Dev Vrat ji from Dandi Swami Gaushala Haibowal, Ajay Pal Dosawar from Valmiki Samaj, Rajeev Tandon from Shiv Sena, Deepak sharma Rev. Pankaj Malik from Christianity, Dr Dev Singh Advati, Rev Father Ajeet Patrick, Dr.Anurag Singh, Prof Vinay Sofat and Parampal Singh participated in all these celebrations and talks.


Prominent among those present on the occasion included ADGP MF Farooqui, MC Zonal Commissioner Jasdev Singh Sekhon, Davinder Singh Nagi, Mohinder Singh, Gursahib Singh, Hemant Goyal and representatives of Cityneeds and team 1699 were present.
