Jalandhar, February 20, 2014: Indian Army opened a new ex-servicemen contributory health scheme polyclinic in the town of Sri Hargobindpur on Thursday. In furtherance of the aim of the Chief of Army Staff of looking after our veterans, the polyclinic was inaugurated by Maj Gen PS Sandhu, General Officer Commanding Panthor Division and dedicated to the people of Sri Hargobindpur.
The General officer also addressed a gathering of Ex-serviceman on this occasion. The General Officer thanked the brave people of Punjab for their contribution and re-emphasised the resolve on part of Indian Army to take care of them in the retired part of their life when medical facility and assistance is most important. The polyclinic shall provide medical facilities to approximately 13,000 ex-servicemen from 125 villages in the near vicinity. Initially these people had to travel to either Gurdaspur which is 35 Km away or Batala which is 30 Km away. Having facilities of a doctor, a functional laboratory and looked after by a Officer-In-Charge, the polyclinic has been opened in the office building of Secretary Market Committee, Sri Hargobindpur near Dana Mandi which is located on the main road in front of Tehsildar office.
