Hyderabad, July 9, 2026: The Indirect Taxes Committee of FTCCI inaugurated its eight-day Certificate Course on GST at Federation House, Hyderabad, on Thursday. The program was formally inaugurated by S. Jaya Kameswari, Additional Commissioner, Telangana State GST.
The course, spread over eight sessions, will be conducted on Fridays and Saturdays until July 31 and has attracted more than 60 participants from diverse industries, finance, taxation and compliance functions.
Addressing the participants, Smt. Jaya Kameswari said continuous learning has become essential even for GST officials as tax laws and regulations are constantly evolving.
“Earlier, I used to casually tell my family members that GST officials did not need to update themselves as frequently as software professionals. Today, the situation has changed. GST law is evolving continuously, and all of us must keep abreast of the latest developments to discharge our responsibilities effectively,” she observed.
She noted that the Government places significant emphasis on learning, training and professional development, and encouraged participants to view the course as an opportunity to strengthen their professional capabilities.
Highlighting the role of the tax administration, she said, “The responsibility of GST officials is not limited to tax collection. Equally important is ensuring ease of compliance and smooth implementation of the law. We are committed to making compliance easier for taxpayers.”
Appreciating the course curriculum, she suggested the inclusion of Artificial Intelligence as part of future programs.
“A growing number of GST officers are leveraging AI tools in their work. Compliance professionals and tax practitioners too should explore how AI can improve efficiency, accuracy and productivity,” she said.
Earlier, Ravi Kumar, President of FTCCI, in his opening remarks, reflected on the journey of GST over the past nine years.
“When GST was introduced, it faced resistance and apprehension from various quarters. Nine years later, it has become an integral part of India’s taxation framework. Continuous learning is essential for professionals to stay relevant and effective,” he said.
He urged participants to make full use of the expertise available through the course.
“Learning is a lifelong process. Knowledge becomes powerful only when it is shared. I encourage all participants to pass on their learnings to colleagues and peers who could not attend the program,” he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Irshad Ahmad, Chairman, Indirect Taxes Committee, FTCCI, said the Certificate Course on GST is one of the most comprehensive programs of its kind being conducted by an industry chamber in Telangana. He added that he is not aware of any other industry body in the state offering a similar structured and intensive GST certification program.
The vote of thanks was proposed by K.K. Maheshwari, Senior Vice President, FTCCI, who observed that GST collections today have reached levels comparable with direct tax collections, underlining the significance of the indirect tax regime in the country's revenue framework.
The eight-day certificate course will conclude on July 31. Sessions will be conducted by experienced industry professionals and subject matter experts, covering key aspects of GST law, compliance, procedures and emerging developments.
