Earthquake safety drill conducted in DPS Rajnagar Extension School

Ghaziabad: In order to educate and train the students for an unforeseen emergency like Earthquake, DPS Rajnagar Extension conducted a mock exercise and evacuation drill on 20th February.

A demonstration was conducted by one of the experts Mr Rupesh Srivastava to explain students about the series of coordinated actions should be practised, for the purpose of safe evacuation at the time of earthquake type situation. It was based on the lines of the Drop, Cover and Hold concept. Immediately after the sounding of the siren, the students were asked to leave their classes and evacuate the school. Guided by the teachers, the students collected in the assembling ground– the allotted safe zone.

These mock drills help in meeting the challenges in adverse situations and in coping with the situation during the time of such a natural disaster.

Pallavi Upadhyaya, Principal, DPS-RNE, Ghaziabad, said, “The objective of the exercise was to create awareness among the exercise conducted in school was to create awareness among the students, teachers and all the staff members of earthquake evacuation drill techniques and the ways to respond swiftly in terms of such an emergency.
