Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India, New Delhi has sanctioned a project to Panjab University, Chandigarh with the title “DST-Centre for Policy Research (CPR) to undertake Science, Technology & Innovation (STI) policy research for catalysing socio-economic development through S&T interventions”.

Chandigarh July 18, 2023: Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India, New Delhi has sanctioned a project to Panjab University, Chandigarh with the title “DST-Centre for Policy Research (CPR) to undertake Science, Technology & Innovation (STI) policy research for catalysing socio-economic development through S&T interventions”. The proposal was submitted by Prof. Kashmir Singh (Coordinator & Principal Investigator) from the Department of Biotechnology at Panjab University and an amount of 4.85 Crores has been sanctioned by the funding agency till the year 2028.

The Centre will work under the supervision of Prof. Kashmir Singh with the support of Co-Investigators, Prof. Sanjeev K Sharma (UIAMS), Prof. Manu Sharma (UIET), and Dr. Deepak B Salunke (Chemistry) from Panjab University, Chandigarh. There will be additional support and guidance from Prof. Jagdeep Kaur (Biotechnology), Prof. Lakshmi Malodia (UBS), Dr. Jyoti Rattan (Department of Laws) at PU, Chandigarh. The objectives of the DST-CPR are to evolve as a ‘Regional Nodal Centre’ for science, technology and innovation policy assistance to the northern States/UTs, to undertake capacity building and training programs in the areas of S&T and intellectual property rights and to undertake S&T policy research and provide evidence-based policy support to DST, Govt of India, New Delhi.
