DSCW BA Student Priyanka Wins Silver at U-23 Women’s Asian Boxing Championship 2026

Chandigarh, August 4, 2026: Dev Samaj College for Women, Sector 45-B, Chandigarh, proudly celebrated the remarkable achievement of its BA student and accomplished boxer, Priyanka, who secured the Silver Medal at the U-23 Women’s Asian Boxing Championship 2026, held in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Representing India in the +80 kg category, Priyanka displayed exceptional determination and skill throughout the championship. In the final bout, she faced Uzbekistan's Sobirakhon Shakhobidinova in a thrilling contest. The fiercely fought match concluded with a 4–1 split decision in favor of the Uzbek boxer, earning Priyanka a well-deserved silver medal on the continental stage.
To recognize and celebrate her outstanding accomplishment, the college organized a felicitation ceremony on the campus. The event was attended by the College Chairperson, Prof. (Dr.) Agnese Dhillon; Secretary, Maanvinder Singh Mangat; Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Neeru Malik; and College Advisor, Dr. Jaspal Kaur, who warmly congratulated Priyanka and honored her with a bouquet and garland. They also complimented the entire DSCW team for its continued commitment to excellence in sports.
Addressing the gathering, the Chairperson lauded Priyanka for bringing laurels to the institution through her outstanding international achievement. She encouraged students to pursue excellence in both academics and sports with equal dedication and determination.
The ceremony was also graced by Dr. Surinder Kaur, Head, Department of Physical Education, and Dr. Shiva Malik, Head, Department of Commerce, along with faculty members, staff, and students, who applauded Priyanka's inspiring success and wished her continued success in the future.
