Ferozepur: In order to tackle the challenging rainy season during the monsoon, Ferozepur Division has prepared a blueprint. Rajesh Aggarwal, Divisional Railway Manager said that monsoon season is very challenging for the railways.
 
 “There are several issues during the rainy season including breaches in embankments, overflowing of bridges. Besides, the electronic signaling systems gets badly affected due to water logging in yards. We have made a detailed strategy to deal with the monsoon”, he said.

“We have made proper arrangements to ensure that there should be no water stagnation around the railway bridges. The drainage system of the yards of Amritsar, Ludhiana, Ferozepur Cantt, Pathankot, Jammu Tawi, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra railway stations has been thoroughly cleaned. The work of cleaning the drainage system of yards of other stations of the division is going on which will be completed soon”, said DRM.  

“About 142 km of cut-off drains along the railway tracks have been cleaned so that water does not stagnate on the railway tracks. Along with cleaning the waterways of 178 rail bridges under Ferozpur division, danger marks have been put on them for the scale of rain water so that immediate steps can be taken for safe rail operation. Besides, motor pumps have been kept ready at 17 Rail Under Bridges (RUBs) to clear the accumulated water at the earliest during torrential rains”, DRM further added.
