Drama Unfolds: Man claiming to be attacked by unknown assailants turns out to be arms smuggler
In a dramatic turn of events, a man who had lodged a complaint claiming he was shot by unidentified persons had, in fact, accidentally injured himself while testing a pistol he had just received as part of an illegal arms consignment. The revelation of the facts which surfaced during the police investigation, led to the arrest of four of his accomplices along with a Pistol (Glock 9 mm with magazine) and 5 live rounds.
Ferozepur, November 5, 2025: In a dramatic turn of events, a man who had lodged a complaint claiming he was shot by unidentified persons had, in fact, accidentally injured himself while testing a pistol he had just received as part of an illegal arms consignment. The revelation of the facts which surfaced during the police investigation, led to the arrest of four of his accomplices along with a Pistol (Glock 9 mm with magazine) and 5 live rounds.
While divulging details, SSP Bhupinder Singh said that yesterday evening at around 4 pm, a firing incident was reported near Shah Din Wala village in Ghall Khurd block. The victim Kulbir Singh resident of Talwandi Bhai, who had sustained bullet injury on his left foot, gave statement to the police that he was going to Talwandi Bhai from Ferozepur with his friends Kulwinder Singh resident of Ratol Rohi, Manpreet Singh, Sukhbir Singh alias Mann resident of Karmitti village on an Alto car.
“As per his statement, they had to stop their car near Shah Din Wala village due to nature’s call. When Kulbir got down from the car, two unidentified motorcycle borne persons fired towards him during which one of the bullet hit him on his left foot and the accused fled from the spot”, said SSP adding that injured Kulbir had been admitted in a private hospital and the police had started investigating the matter.
The SSP said that during the police investigation, the needle of suspicion tilted towards Kulbir and his friends only. “When asked strictly, Kulbir admitted that he along with his friends Kulwinder, Manpreet and Sukhbir had concocted the story and actually they had received the pistol (9 mm Glock with magazine) as a consignment. “While they were coming back, Kulbir who was sitting on the conductor seat in the car, accidently got hurt while checking the pistol. Later they reached Sher Khan Wala village and handed over the weapon to one of their friend Arshdeep Singh alias Arsh, a resident of Karmitti village”, said SSP.
The SSP said that all the accused were booked under Sections 109, 231, of BNS besides 25,54,59 Arms Act at Sadar police station (FIR No. 329).
“All the accused have been arrested and the weapon along with magazine and live rounds have also been recovered”, said SSP.
