Ludhiana, December 21, 2022: The election for the post of sports secretary of the prestigious Sutlej Club, Ludhiana has become a center of debate for everyone as there is a direct contest between a male and a female candidate.

Dr Sulbha Jindal, an entrepreneur and veterinarian is contesting for the post of sports secretary. She is the only female contender left in the fray. Another female contender Neelam Saggar has already been elected unopposed as an executive member of the club.

The post of sports secretary is considered as an important post as the facilities of swimming pool, gym, lawn tennis, squash, billiards, and table tennis are available in the club premises. “Contesting for the post of sports secretary is a big challenge for me and I’m confident that I will be the winner”, said Dr Sulbha Jindal who is well known member of the club and a national level swimmer.

Enquiries reveal that there are over 300 female members of the club out of a total 3,000 members.  She is getting support of maximum female members besides male members. At the same time, this is perhaps for the first time that a female candidate is contesting for the post of sports secretary.

Sandeep Jalota who has held many positions in the club over the years, termed Dr Sulbha Jindal as very brilliant professional, entrepreneur and sportswoman. He said the club members have full confidence in the leadership qualities of Dr Sulbha and hoped that she will bring a tremendous upgradation in the existing sports facilities which have not been taken care of for the past few years.

Another club member Sakshi Arora said renowned citizens of Ludhiana such as Kamal Oswal (Managing Director of Nahar Group of Industries) and Onkar Pahwa (Chairman of Avon Cycles) have shown their full confidence in Dr Sulbha by proposing and seconding her candidature. Thus, everyone is confident that on being elected Dr Sulbha will surely upgrade the available sports facilities for further encouragement of the sports activities among the club members and their families as well.

Many other club members expressed almost similar views.

The polling will take place on December 24 and the results will be declared on the same day.
