Dr. Sarabjit Singh Wins by Huge Majority for the Post of President of Punjabi Sahit Akademi
The election for the post of President of the Punjabi Sahit Akademi, Ludhiana was held on Sunday, at Punjabi Bhavan, Ludhiana. Voting took place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the venue. After the counting of votes, Dr. Sarabjit Singh was declared the winner for the post of President with 526 votes, while Amar Garg Kalmdan received 35 votes and 8 votes were declared invalid.
Ludhiana, March 15, 2026: The election for the post of President of the Punjabi Sahit Akademi, Ludhiana was held on Sunday, at Punjabi Bhavan, Ludhiana. Voting took place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the venue. After the counting of votes, Dr. Sarabjit Singh was declared the winner for the post of President with 526 votes, while Amar Garg Kalmdan received 35 votes and 8 votes were declared invalid.
Chief Election Officer Vijay Kumar Dutta, along with Assistant Election Officers Dr. Balwinder Singh Aulakh Galaxy and Dr. Kulwinder Kaur Minhas, informed that after some members withdrew their nominations and chose not to contest the elections of the Punjabi Sahit Akademi, Ludhiana, several candidates were elected unopposed.
Dr. Pal Kaur was elected as Senior Vice President, and Dr. Gulzar Singh Pandher as General Secretary. Those elected as Vice Presidents were as under: Jaspal Mankheda, Sahajpreet Singh Mangat, Dr. Gurcharan Kaur Kochar, Dr. Arvinder Kaur Kakra, and Surinder Neer.
The following members were elected unopposed to the Managing Board:
Dr. Hari Singh Jachak, Bhupinder Singh Sandhu, Sanjeevan Singh, Simarjit Kaur Gill, Taraspal Kaur, Manjinder Singh Dhanoa, Prabhjot Sohi, Navtej Garhdiwala, Dr. Harvinder Singh Sirsa, Ammiyan Kunwar, Trailochan Lochi, Rajinder Singh Rajan, Deep Jagdeep Singh, Makkhan Mann, and Rozi Singh.
