Dharamshala, July 1, 2025: Dr. Rajesh Sharma officially took charge as the 38th Chairman of the Himachal Pradesh School Education Board (HPSEB) on Tuesday at a ceremony held at the Board Headquarters in Dharamshala. Senior officials and staff members of the Board were present to welcome him.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Sharma emphasized that his top priorities would be improving the quality of basic education, ensuring transparency in the examination process, and strengthening the digital infrastructure of the Board. “My aim is that a Class 5 student should be able to read and understand a Class 5 textbook independently,” he stated, underlining his focus on foundational literacy.

He further announced plans to technically upgrade the evaluation system to ensure timely and error-free declaration of examination results. Promoting digital education, improving exam procedures, and expanding access to academic resources—especially in rural areas—will also be key areas of focus under his leadership.

A prominent name in the medical field, Dr. Rajesh Sharma also has an active background in public life. He contested the 2022 Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections from Dehra as a Congress candidate and was also considered for the party’s ticket in the Dehra by-election held in June 2024. However, he withdrew from the race at the last moment.
