Dr. Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences & Hospital Hosts Self-Defence Workshop in Collaboration with Chandigarh Police
Dr. Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences & Hospital, Panjab University, Chandigarh, in collaboration with the “SWAYAM” team of the Chandigarh Police, inaugurated a Self-Defence Training Workshop especially for female students and staff members on 12th September 2025. The workshop will continue till 1st October 2025, aiming to empower participants with essential self-defence skills and awareness of personal safety.

Chandigarh, September 12, 2025: Dr. Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences & Hospital, Panjab University, Chandigarh, in collaboration with the “SWAYAM” team of the Chandigarh Police, inaugurated a Self-Defence Training Workshop especially for female students and staff members on 12th September 2025. The workshop will continue till 1st October 2025, aiming to empower participants with essential self-defence skills and awareness of personal safety.
The inaugural session, held in Lecture Theatre –1, was graced by the presence of Sh. Pushpinder Kumar, IPS, Inspector General of Police, and Ms. Kanwardeep Kaur, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, Chandigarh Administration. Both distinguished guests delivered impactful and motivational lectures, emphasizing the importance of self-protection, confidence-building, and women’s empowerment in today’s dynamic environment.
The session also featured an interactive demonstration by the “SWAYAM” team, allowing students to actively participate and learn practical self-defence techniques. The initiative received an enthusiastic response from female students and staff, reflecting the strong need for such programs within academic institutions.
This workshop is a part of a broader initiative led by Dr. Deepak Kumar Gupta, Principal-cum-Professor of the Institute, who has consistently prioritized the safety, well-being, and empowerment of students and staff. He expressed his heartfelt thanks to the Chandigarh Police for their collaboration and urged all eligible participants to make the most of this meaningful and skill-building opportunity.
