Ludhiana. February 14, 2015: After 2 day long grueling five rounds of debate at Dr.D.R. Singh Memorial British Parliamentary Debate, Season-VI, concluded at PCTE Group of Institutes Ludhiana.

Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Patiala bagged the first position where as second position was bagged by IMT, Ghaziabad and third position was bagged by IIT, Ropar.

V.K Goyal, Executive Director & Group CEO, SEL Manufacturing Company Ltd. & Past President, LMA and Dr. Rajiv Maheshwari, Director, Gulzar School of Management were present on the occasion.

Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Patiala won a cash prize worth Rs.1,00,000. The first eight teams won cash prizes. The current season of British parliamentary debate was sponsored by SEL Manufacturing Company Ltd.

V.K. Goyal said that, “I am highly impressed with the competition conducted on national level year after year. It is a great learning for all”. He further added that it’s good to see the students involved and participating in such events.

The event was later followed by the Live Band Performance by The Swastik Group. Swastik is an Alternative Rock band from Chandigarh - Dehradun, formed in 2007 by Rohit Joshi. The band have delivered the very finest Hindi Rock music – tightly crafted songs, floor-shaking rhythms and unmistakable harmonies.

Harpreet K Kang, Chairman, Students forum, LMA and Dean, PCTE Group of Institutes congratulated the winners and said that, “These debates encourage the students to participate, gain knowledge and insights into variable issues. Unlike, the regular debates organised by various schools and colleges of the region, the British Parliamentary Debate entails a Knock out League match pattern - where two teams after take out draws, fight against each other in a nearly an hour long debate, and the winner  goes on to the next round”.
