DPS Indirapuram celebrates Meghalaya Day

Ghaziabad: Delhi Public School Indirapuram celebrated' Meghalaya Day' in a special assembly on 22nd January 2020. The celebrations were a part of the' Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’ program launched by our honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to promote the spirit of unity in diversity and familiarise the younger generation with the rich culture, traditions and customs typical to different states of India.
 
Meghalaya being the partner state of Uttar Pradesh as provided in the CBSE directives, students of the school presented a glimpse of this nature's jewel tucked away in the North-Eastern part of our country through an Information packed presentation. The Assembly commenced with a short video showcasing the ethereal beauty of Meghalaya- the Abode of Clouds. After briefly familiarising the audience with the demography of the state, its official language, local tribes and its predominant religion,  the students took the audience on a mesmerizing journey into the very heart of Meghalaya  with a presentation showcasing the several wonders of the state, like the living root bridges, crystal clear lakes, limestone caves, cascading waterfalls, verdant hillslopes, quaint villages, exotic cuisines,  traditions,  musical instruments, dance forms and typical customs and traditions that  held the audience spellbound.
 
The school dance troupe added to the magical ambience by whisking the audience into a world of melody, rhythm and grace by presenting a mesmerising dance sequence from this part of the country. The assembly drew to a close with the singing of the National Anthem. The celebrations were a unique endeavour to commemorate the 48th year of the birth of the state of Meghalaya and was indeed a very enriching one as it brought alive the Incredible beauty and vibrancy of Mystic Meghalaya.
 
Mrs Sangeeta Hajela, Principal, DPS Indirapuram spoke about Meghalaya's beauty and many Natural wonders. She also acquainted the students with some special facts like the matriarchal system followed in this state. She further urged the students to find out more about Meghalaya and plan a visit to know more about this part of our country.
