Docuseries of Guru Nanak Screened in PU Chandigarh

A screening and  discussion was held on docuseries entitled “Allegory: A Tapestry of Guru Nanak’s Travels” under the ‘Shabad Vichar Manch’ platform in the Department of Guru Nanak Sikh Studies Panjab University Chandigarh.

Chandigarh, June 16, 2022: A screening and  discussion was held on docuseries entitled “Allegory: A Tapestry of Guru Nanak’s Travels” under the ‘Shabad Vichar Manch’ platform in the Department of Guru Nanak Sikh Studies Panjab University Chandigarh. Docuseries is written, directed and produced by Amardeep Singh (author of two volumns ‘The Lost Heritage’) and Varinder Kaur. In his welcome address Prof. Gurpal Singh, Academic Inchrge of the department said that legacy of Guru Nanak is so deep, great and vast; We must enrich, preserve and propagate this legacy to next generation. 

24 episode Docuseries trailered in 24 minutes consist of all the major aspects of Guru Nanak’s travel trajectory. The main content of docuseries was documentation of more than 150 sites dedicated to travels of Guru Nanak spread in the countries like India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, China, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Syria and Arabia. Docuseries encompassed all the major events of Guru Nanak’s life blended and intermixed in different shades and forms of different times, cultures, geographies and languages. Both Amardeep Singh and Vaninder Kaur shared their views, experiences, and sufferings to the audience. They said that sikhi is not limited upto India and sikh only. In the umbrella term ‘Nanakpanthi’ there are many and many ethnics, people groups, races are take name.

Program was chaired by Prof. Sudheer Kumar Saxena, Dean Research of the University. Panel of discussion was coordinated by Dr. Surinderpal Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of Maths. Many scholars, guests and students scholarly participated in the discussion. In the end of Talk, Dr. Gurpal Singh gave a vote of thanks.
