Doctors and staff of CMCH hold peaceful protest against violence and damaging hospital property

Ludhiana, February 23, 2018: Today evening, around 250 doctors and staff of CMC Hospital, Ludhiana gathered outside the hospital reception for a peaceful protest against damaging the hospital property and violence against the CMC junior doctors and staff faced yesterday by one deceased patient’s relatives.
The doctors demanded that strict action must be taken against all the responsible for that act as per Punjab Medicare Protection Act. They also demanded that strict laws must be implemented so that such situation could be avoided in the future.
It may be mentioned here that on February 17, 2018, one patient was admitted in Pediatrics ICU as she was having sepsis and pneumonia, fever, bad lung infection. According to hospital sources, the patient had low haemoglobin and platelets and the patient was given intensive support in Pediatrics intensive care with ventilation and blood products and antibiotics. “Our doctors did their level best and continued good treatment but the patient was sick from day one she arrived and relatives were informed about the situation. The relatives wanted her to be shifted to another hospital in view of financial problems”, further said the hospital sources. “Today (February 22) while the patient was being shifted to another hospital she expired. Upon this, the relatives of the patient became very aggressive and made chaos in the hospital allegedly by beating two junior doctors, female nurse staff and security guards and broke the glass door of PICU.”, they revealed.
