DMC&H strengthens diagnostic services by adopting advanced cobas pro and cobas 5800 platforms
Driven by its vision to be a model of excellence in healthcare, medical education and research DMC&H Ludhiana has once again set a benchmark by adopting Cobas Pro platform, latest innovation in laboratory automation in Department of Biochemistry and the Cobas 5800 molecular diagnostics system in the Department Of Microbiology to strengthen the laboratory capabilities for viral load testing and molecular diagnostics.
Ludhiana, December 15, 2025: Driven by its vision to be a model of excellence in healthcare, medical education and research DMC&H Ludhiana has once again set a benchmark by adopting Cobas Pro platform, latest innovation in laboratory automation in Department of Biochemistry and the Cobas 5800 molecular diagnostics system in the Department Of Microbiology to strengthen the laboratory capabilities for viral load testing and molecular diagnostics.
The facilities were inaugurated by Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society, along with Mukesh Verma, Treasurer, DMC&H Managing Society, Principal Dr. G. S. Wander, Dean Academics Dr. Sandeep Kaushal, Medical Superintendent Dr. Sandeep Sharma, Additional Medical Superintendent Dr. Ashima Taneja, and faculty members from the Departments of Microbiology and Biochemistry.
In his message, Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society said that DMC&H is always focused on improving patient care by adopting advanced technology. The introduction of these modern diagnostic facilities shows our commitment to accurate, reliable, and efficient laboratory services.
Dr. G. S. Wander, Principal, DMC&H congratulated both the departments on the installation of the cobas Pro and cobas 5800 platforms and said it will help in better diagnosis and patient care.
Dr Veenu Gupta, Professor & Head Department of Microbiology said that the department has advanced diagnostic facilities for hepatitis B, C and HIV including ELISA and viral load testing. This is used for diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of these infections. The cobas 5800 is a compact, fully automated real-time PCR molecular testing platform. It delivers integrated workflow automation — from sample preparation through amplification and detection — enabling reliable and efficient nucleic acid testing (NAT). This supports accurate diagnosis, treatment and monitoring for better patient care.
Dr Ekta Bansal, Professor & Head Department of Biochemistry stated that this analyzer brings state of the art technology to address the growing diagnostic needs of the region. It is an integrated platform which brings clinical chemistry and immunoassay module together delivering rapid, reliable results at an amazing rate of 3200 tests/hour. This empowers clinicians with actionable insights for timely patient care.
