DMCH starts Obesity Clinic OPD

Ludhiana, November 3, 2023: The department of Surgery at DMC&H started a specialized clinic for patients suffering from obesity today in the Surgery OPD Block of DMCH. Weekly Obesity Clinic OPD will be held every Friday from 2:00 pm to 4.00 pm in the Surgery OPD complex at the hospital.

The Obesity Clinic OPD inaugurated by Secretary DMCH Managing Society Bipin Gupta along with treasurer, DMCH Managing Society Mukesh Verma, Principal Dr Sandeep Puri, Medical Supdts. Dr Ashwani K Chaudhary , Dr Sandeep Sharma and Dr Bishav Mohan.

Bariatric Surgeons Dr P S Nain Professor Department of Surgery and Dr Ashish Ahuja Professor Department of Surgery will provide their medical services in the clinic.

In his address, Bipin Gupta Secretary DMCH Managing Society congratulated and appreciated the efforts of Department of Surgery to start this new initiative.

Principal, Dr Sandeep Puri said this clinic will offer specialized services by expert team of healthcare providers along with the nutritional services.

Dr P S Nain said that Obesity Pandemic is one of the biggest challenges in Asia & world over Obesity clinic at DMCH will cater to all obesity related diseases. Dietary, Medical & Surgical treatment of obesity will be offered to patients suffering from obesity said Dr Nain.

Speaking on the occasion Dr Ashish Ahuja highlighted that Obesity can lead to various medical issues such as fatty liver cholesterol gallstones, sleep apnoea osteoarthritis & polycystic ovarian syndrome. Losing weight can lower the risk of having these health problems.
