DMC&H Organizes CME on “Bridging Specialities: Building a Pathway for Clinical Application of Apheresis”
The Department of Immunohaematology & Blood Transfusion, Dayanand Medical College & Hospital (DMC&H), under the leadership of Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Professor & Head, successfully organized CME today at Dumra Auditorium, DMC&H. The theme of this year’s CME was “Bridging Specialities: Building a Pathway for Clinical Application of Apheresis.”
Ludhiana, April 25, 2026: The Department of Immunohaematology & Blood Transfusion, Dayanand Medical College & Hospital (DMC&H), under the leadership of Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Professor & Head, successfully organized CME today at Dumra Auditorium, DMC&H. The theme of this year’s CME was “Bridging Specialities: Building a Pathway for Clinical Application of Apheresis.”
The CME was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society, Dr. G.S. Wander, Principal, DMC&H, Dr. Sandeep Sharma, Medical Superintendent, Dr. Ashima Taneja, Additional Medical Superintendent, Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Professor & Head, Department of Immunohaematology & Blood Transfusion, Sushant Sharma, Deputy Drugs Controller (India), CDSCO Zonal Office, Baddi, along with faculty members of the department.
The academic event was coordinated by Dr. Sonia Gupta, Organizing Secretary, and Dr. Deepika Aggarwal, Joint Organizing Secretary. The CME featured a rich scientific programme including oral paper presentations and e-poster presentations, providing a platform for knowledge exchange and discussion among clinicians, residents, and students.
In his message, Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society, emphasized the importance of such academic initiatives in enhancing patient care. He stated that apheresis is an evolving field that requires integration across multiple specialties, and platforms like this CME help in creating awareness and building a structured pathway for its effective clinical application.
Dr. G.S. Wander, Principal, DMC&H, highlighted the need for continuous learning and collaboration in modern medicine. He said that bridging specialties is essential to translate advanced technologies like apheresis into routine clinical practice, ultimately benefiting patients through improved treatment outcomes.
While delivering the vote of thanks, Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Professor & Head, Department of Immunohaematology & Blood Transfusion, expressed his gratitude to the esteemed guests, speakers, and participants. He appreciated the collective efforts that made the CME a success and reiterated the department’s commitment to promoting academic excellence and strengthening the clinical application of apheresis through continued learning and collaboration
The CME featured comprehensive sessions on key topics including Platelet Apheresis, Therapeutic Plasma Exchange: Fundamentals and Guidelines, and Therapeutic Plasma Exchange: Clinical Applications. These sessions were delivered by eminent speakers from across Punjab including Sushant Sharma, Deputy Drugs Controller (India), CDSCO Zonal Office, Baddi, who delivered an insightful talk on “Risk Stratification, Complications and Management in Therapeutic Plasma Exchange.”
The CME witnessed active participation from faculty members, postgraduate students, and delegates from various specialties, making it a successful academic endeavour.
