DMCH offering Knee and Replacement Surgeries at concessional rates

Ludhiana, April 4, 2014: On the occasion of Golden Jubilee Celebrations of DMCH, Department of Orthopaedics is offering Knee & Hip Replacement Surgeries at highly concessional rates. To avail the facility of getting the surgeries done at concessional rates, patient’s registration will be done free of cost on special camps scheduled to be held on April 6, 13, 20 and 27 in Ortho OPD of the hospital from 9 am to 1 pm.

According to Professor & Head of Orthopaedics- Dr Mohd. Yamin, Knee replacement surgery can be performed as a partial or a total knee replacement. In general, the surgery consists of replacing the diseased or damaged joint surfaces of the knee with imported metal and plastic components shaped to allow continued motion of the knee. The recovery period, after the surgery, may be 6 to 8 weeks and involve the use of mobility aids including walking frames and canes to enable the patient's return to preoperative mobility. He further said that by getting knee or hip replacement done, not only patients get relief from physical suffering but their family members are also saved from lot of botheration. The additional advantage to the patients is that the Department of Orthopaedics has one of the finest internationally-trained surgeons including Dr Rajnish Garg,Dr Harpal Singh Selhi, Dr Deepak Jain, Dr  Pankaj Mahindra and Dr Shekhar Singhal.  

Secretary of DMCH Managing Society-Sh Prem Kumar Gupta announced that patients getting themselves registered for knee and hip replacement surgeries at scheduled camps will be charged only Rs.1.25 lakhs, which otherwise costs around Rs 2 to Rs 2.3 lacs. The package cost will include Imported American Implants, Surgical Fees & Stay in Hospital, Food for patients, Medicines, Routine investigation and free X-rays on days of camps. DMCH has announced this special offer, keeping in view the massive response of patients during Operation Walk, where poor and needy patients get free knee and hip replacement surgeries done by a team of doctors from USA under Operation Maryland projects. DMCH, has so far organized three such camps in collaboration with Rubin Institute, USA

Dr Pankaj Mohindra, who is coordinating this project, added that joint replacement surgeries are common now a days and total hip and knee replacement can dramatically reduce pain and increase the productivity of the patients
