DMC&H Observes World Vitiligo Day 2025

The Department of Dermatology, DMC&H Ludhiana, in collaboration with the IADVL Punjab-Chandigarh-HP State Branch, organized an awareness program to mark World Vitiligo Day. The theme for this year was “Innovation for Every Skin – Powered by AI,” focusing on the role of Artificial Intelligence in improving dermatological diagnostics and treatment, particularly for Vitiligo.

DMC&H Observes World Vitiligo Day 2025

Ludhiana, June 26, 2025: The Department of Dermatology, DMC&H Ludhiana, in collaboration with the IADVL Punjab-Chandigarh-HP State Branch, organized an awareness program to mark World Vitiligo Day. The theme for this year was “Innovation for Every Skin – Powered by AI,” focusing on the role of Artificial Intelligence in improving dermatological diagnostics and treatment, particularly for Vitiligo.
The event formally began with a welcome address by Dr. Sukhjot Kaur, Professor and Head, Department of Dermatology, who highlighted the significance of World Vitiligo Day and the latest innovations that are helping improve the quality of life for patients suffering from this condition.
The program was graced by Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMCH Managing Society, along with Mukesh Verma, Treasurer, DMCH Managing Society, Dr. Ashima Taneja, Additional Medical Superintendent, and all the faculty members of the Department of Dermatology.
As part of the event, a poster-making competition for MBBS students on the theme of Vitiligo, a painting competition for nursing students, and a poster-making competition by the Department of Dietetics on the theme “Nutrition and Vitiligo” were organized. Department of Clinical Psychology, DMC&H also delivered a talk on Stress and Stigma related to Vitiligo.
In his address, Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMCH Managing Society, highlighted that the Department of Dermatology, DMC&H, has state-of-the-art facilities to cater to the needs of patients. He lauded the efforts of the Department of Dermatology for conducting this awareness session.
The vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Jaspriya Sandhu, Associate Professor, Department of Dermatology, appreciated the enthusiastic participation from students and departments and acknowledged the continued support from the management.
Dr. Navneet Kaur, Assistant Professor Department of Dermatology also shared his insights on the clinical aspects of vitiligo, emphasizing early diagnosis, patient counseling, and the role of technology in bridging treatment gaps.
The event concluded with prize distribution to winners of the competitions. A skit was also enacted by the Dermatology residents and staff members of Skin OPD  to bust the myths and spread the awareness, written and directed by Dr Jaspriya Sandhu.
