DMC&H Launches Book Honouring Dr. Parveen C. Sobti’s Legacy in Pediatric Hemato-Oncology
Dayanand Medical College & Hospital (DMC&H) paid a heartfelt tribute to the extraordinary contributions of Dr. Parveen C. Sobti, Former Professor and In-charge of Pediatric Hemato-Oncology, who passed away on June 11, 2024. To commemorate her remarkable journey and dedication, a book celebrating her life and legacy was launched at a special remembrance event held at the institution.
Ludhiana, November 2, 2025: Dayanand Medical College & Hospital (DMC&H) paid a heartfelt tribute to the extraordinary contributions of Dr. Parveen C. Sobti, Former Professor and In-charge of Pediatric Hemato-Oncology, who passed away on June 11, 2024. To commemorate her remarkable journey and dedication, a book celebrating her life and legacy was launched at a special remembrance event held at the institution.
A trailblazer in the field of Thalassemia and Hemato-Oncology, Dr. Sobti was instrumental in establishing advanced pediatric hemato-oncology services at DMC&H. Her compassion, expertise, and unwavering service to patients and students continue to inspire generations of medical professionals.
The book was formally released by Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society, along with Bharat Bir Singh Sobti (her husband), Mukesh Verma, Treasurer, DMC&H Managing Society, Dr. G. S. Wander, Principal, Dr. Sandeep Sharma, Medical Superintendent, and Dr. Ashima Taneja, Additional Medical Superintendent. The launch was attended by close family friends, including Nandita Gupta, Rama Munjal, and Suresh Munjal, who shared an emotional bond with the Sobti family.
Speaking at the ceremony, Bipin Gupta said, “Dr. Sobti’s selfless service and commitment to patient care truly reflected the ethos of DMC&H.”
Dr. G. S. Wander, Principal, DMC&H, fondly described her as “a devoted teacher and a compassionate doctor,” adding that the institute would continue to carry forward her legacy in thalassemia care.
Sharing his reflections, Dr. Puneet Pooni, Professor & Head, Department of Pediatrics, remarked, “Dr. Parveen Sobti was not just a brilliant clinician but a guiding force for every young doctor who entered this department. Her commitment to thalassemia care in Punjab was unmatched, and her legacy will live on in every patient whose life she helped transform.”
