Ludhiana, January 16, 2026: Dayanand Medical College & Hospital today inaugurated state-of-the-art O-Arm and Neuronavigation systems, marking a significant milestone in the advancement of neurosurgical care at the institution.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Chief Guests Suresh Munjal, Member, DMC&H Managing Society; Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society; and Mukesh Verma, Treasurer, DMC&H Managing Society. Also present on the occasion were Dr. G.S. Wander, Principal, DMC&H; Dr. Sandeep Kaushal, Dean Academics; Dr. Ashwani K. Chaudhary, Professor & Head, Neurosurgery cum Medical Superintendent; Dr. Ashima Taneja, Additional Medical Superintendent; along with senior faculty members and staff.
In his message, Suresh Munjal stated that the addition of advanced neurosurgical systems is a proud moment for DMC&H and reflects the institution’s vision of combining medical excellence with the latest technology. He emphasized that such initiatives strengthen patient trust and reinforce the hospital’s role as a leading healthcare provider in the region.
Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society, said that continuous upgradation of medical infrastructure is essential to meet growing healthcare needs. He added that the installation of the O-Arm and Neuronavigation systems will greatly support doctors in delivering safer, more precise, and world-class neurosurgical care to patients.
Mukesh Verma, Treasurer, DMC&H Managing Society, congratulated the doctors and staff on this achievement, noting that the addition of the O-Arm and Neuronavigation systems marks an important step toward safer, more precise, and advanced neurosurgical care for patients.
Sharing his views, Dr. G.S. Wander, Principal, DMC&H, said that advanced technology plays a vital role in medical education and patient treatment. He noted that these systems will not only enhance surgical outcomes but also provide valuable learning opportunities for postgraduate students and young surgeons, further strengthening the academic environment at DMC&H.
Dr. Ashwani K. Chaudhary, Professor & Head, Department of Neurosurgery, highlighted the clinical benefits and technological advancement of the newly installed systems. He informed that DMC&H is the first institute in Punjab to install both the advanced O-Arm and Neuronavigation systems.
Explaining their advantages, he said that the O-Arm provides real-time, high-resolution 3D imaging, which gives neurosurgeons exceptional accuracy during complex spinal and cranial surgeries. This technology helps improve surgical precision, reduces complications, minimizes the need for repeat surgeries, and ensures greater patient safety.
Dr. Chaudhary further explained that the Neuronavigation system acts like a precise GPS for the brain and spine. It supports detailed pre-operative planning and accurate intra-operative execution, helping surgeons protect critical nerve structures, reduce surgery time, and promote faster recovery with better overall outcomes for patients.
