DMC&H hosts Quarterly Meeting of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Society of Northern India

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, DMC&H hosted the Quarterly Meeting of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Society of Northern India. The CME program, themed “Advances in Obstetrics and Gynaecology,” brought together leading experts, clinicians and academicians to discuss the latest developments and innovations in women’s health.

Ludhiana, November 10, 2025: The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, DMC&H hosted the Quarterly Meeting of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Society of Northern India. The CME program, themed “Advances in Obstetrics and Gynaecology,” brought together leading experts, clinicians and academicians to discuss the latest developments and innovations in women’s health.
The chief guest for the event was BipinGupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society. Also gracing the occasion were Mukesh Verma, Treasurer, DMC&H Managing Society, Dr. Sandeep Sharma, Medical Superintendent, and Dr. Sandeep Kaushal, Dean, DMC&H.
Bipin Gupta, lauded the efforts of department for organizing such academic initiative and promote excellence in medical education and patient care. He also announced the launch of the Fellowship Programme in Hands-on Endoscopy Training at DMC&H, aimed at empowering young gynecologists with the skills to perform endoscopic procedures independently and safely. He added that it is a proud moment for DMC&H to be the *first medical college in Punjab to introduce this advanced hands-on training programme.
In his message, Dr. G.S. Wander, Principal, DMC&H, stated that continuous medical education plays a vital role in ensuring that healthcare professionals remain updated with current practices. 
The event featured Guest of Honor, Dr. Hafeez Rahman, Director of Sunrise Hospital and one of the world’s pioneers in laparoscopic procedures, has a record of  over 1,00,000 laparoscopic surgeries in *Guinness book of world record* - one of the highest numbers globally. 
His lecture on “Special cases in laparoscopy” marked the presence of over 200 delegates in the hall and an active participation of senior consultants  during the panel solving many surgical mysteries. 
Dr.Ashima Taneja, Organising Chairperson, along with Dr. Suman Puri (Organizing Co-Chairperson) Dr. Sunil K. Juneja(Organizing Secretary), and Dr. Pooja Tandon (Joint Organising Secretary), lead the organizing committee.
 Dr. Navneet Magon, the first gynaecologist in India to introduce Cosmetic Gynaecology and the Master Trainer for the Indian Subcontinent, also graced the occasion.
The Department was privileged to host these eminent speakers along with Dr. J.B. Sharma from AIIMS New Delhi, Dr. Rashmi Bagga from PGI Chandigarh, Dr. Kiran Guleria from UCMS New Delhi; and several other distinguished specialists from across Northern India, who shared their expertise on cutting-edge topics in obstetrics and gynaecology.
The organizing team was supported by experienced team of faculty members including Dr Muskan Chaudhary(Assistant Professor), Dr Surbhi Handa (Assistant Professor),Dr Rooprishma (Assistant Professor), Dr Sukriti Gupta (Assistant Profressor).
The CME aims to encourage continuous learning and professional collaboration while offering valuable updates in evidence-based practice. The CME was coordinated by the senior residents — Dr. Mehak, Dr. Rashim, Dr. Heena, Dr. Jasmine, Dr. Subha, Dr. Romi, and Dr. Preeti.
All the colleges all over Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh participated actively in paper competition, poster competition and quiz competition.  Maximum prizes were bagged by the residents of DMC&H. 
More than 310 participants attended and actively participated in the CME, making it a huge success.
