Doctors of DMCH, Ludhiana briefing about CME on Retinal Diseases to be organised on May 18.

Ludhiana, May 17, 2014: Department of Ophthalmology at DMCH is conducting first of its kind CME for creating awareness of Retinal diseases for General Ophthalmologists of the region. The CME will be held in Dumra Auditorium on May 18 from 9 am to 2 pm.
Organising Chairman Dr GS Bajwa (Professor & Head of Ophthalmology) said that the invited faculty for forthcoming CME includes top retinal surgeons of the country including Dr Mahesh Shanmugan from Bangalore, Dr Preetam Singh from Amritsar, Dr Ramandeep Singh from PGIMER, Chandigarh and Dr Sangeet Mittal from Jalandhar
According to Organising Secretary-Dr Sumeet Chopra (Associate Professor of Ophthalmology), retina is a film at the back of the eye like the film of the camera. Diseases of retina are increasing manifold because of increased incidence of diabetes mellitus and macular degeneration. Because of this people end up losing their vision to a considerable extent. The last 10 years has seen a tremendous change in Retina diagnostic & treatment.
Secretary of DMCH Managing Society-Sh Prem Kumar Gupta said that DMCH is a tertiary care centre with advanced facilities for care of retinal conditions and is equipped with latest Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), Zeiss High Definition, the first of its kind in North India. We also have the Zeiss Green Laser for treatment of conditions like Diabetic Retinopathy. Zeiss FFA (Fundus Flourescein Angiography) and Oertli OS 3 machine for vitreoretinal surgery
