Ludhiana, December 20, 2021: In what could be termed as a rare fete, a local medico Dr Anubhav Sharma Assistant Professor Department of Orthopedics at DMCH has been awarded with this year 'Bone Cancer Fellowship' in Orthopedics Oncology Surgery (Bone Cancer) at Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Research Center New Delhi, Asia’s premier exclusive tertiary cancer center. This fellowship is awarded to best of the talents available in the field as huge number of aspirants from all over vie for the single position as part of fellowship.
This year’s awardee, Dr Anubhav Sharma, who hails from Ludhiana, completed his master degree in Orthopedics Surgery form Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences Kochi and acquired his advancement training and skills in Orthopaedics Surgery at Maulana Azad Medical College (LNJP Hospital) Delhi. His extensive research work is published in inedex orthopaedics journals also includes Indian subcontinent’s First Bilateral Superacondylar Level Upper Limp Transplantation.
Secretary DMCH Managing Society, Prem Kumar Gupta lauded the achievement and said that it was not a laurel for the hospital but for the entire northern region. It is a proud moment for all of us that our faculty member is one among the huge numbers of aspirants .This is not only bound to help Dr Anubhav Sharma in his futuristic endeavoured but will be of immense use to the medical institutions like ours in serving the needy . We have always  endeavoured for the excellence by bringing in latest and most sophisticated facilities for the benefits and welfare of the patients. Therefore bone cancer treatment will supplement to our already established cancer centre in the hospital, said Mr Gupta.
Mentioning the selection of Dr Anubhav as a “boon” for the region Dr Sandeep Puri Principal DMCH said that Orthopaedics Oncology Surgery is new upcoming branch and is of utmost importance for states like Punjab where the number of patients are increasing manifolds every passing day. As of now these patients have to travel all the way to Delhi or Mumabi for specialized treatment but now it is going to be a thing of past soon.
Dr Anubhav Sharma said that he always strived hard to achieve the best in his field and with this fellowship his dream has come true. He said that the exposure he will get at internationally acclaimed Bone Cancer Institute will not only fulfil his professional aspirations but extended him a golden opportunity to serve the community.
