DMCH celebrates Dietetics Day

Ludhiana, January 21, 2014: Department of Dietitics, Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), Ludhiana under the aegis of Indian Dietetic Association (IDA) celebrated ‘Dietetics Day’ with zeal and fervor.

The day was marked by various activities including educational lectures, display of banners and posters and counseling as well.

Dean Academic Dr Rajoo Singh Chhina (Professor & Head of Gastroenterology) and Dr Subhasini Verma, Former HOD of Department of Home Sciences at PAU, delivered patient education lectures on nutrition. In his message, Dr Rajoo Singh Chhina emphasized that we need to take natural diet, which is best for human body. He strongly refuted the use of artificial food supplements and vitamins, which people normally use, without consulting qualified medical practitioners.

An exhibition on a balanced and healthy diet was also displayed during the occasion.  A healthy recipe cooking contest was also organised amongst the female faculty members of DMCH, a day prior to the function.

Principal Dr Daljt Singh, Medical Superintendent Dr Sandeep Puri and Dr Sandeep Sharma felicitated the speakers and winners of the recipe contest.
