DMC & Hospital Doctor Conferred National Award for Exemplary Performance in the Field of cadaveric Organ Donation and Transplants

Ludhiana, August 6, 2026: DMC& Hospital Dr P L Gautam Professor & Head, Department of Critical Care Medicine and Sandeep Singh transplant coordinator Ludhiana have been conferred the prestigious "Exemplary Performance in the Field of cadaveric organ donation and Transplants" award by the National Organ & Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. The award was presented by Anupriya Patel, Union Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare, during the 16th Indian Organ Donation Day on 3rd August, 2026 held in New Delhi.
The award recognizes DMC&H's outstanding contribution in the field of organ donation and transplantation and acknowledges the team's unwavering commitment towards giving a new lease of life to patients suffering from end-stage organ failure.
Dr. P. L. Gautam said that organ donation is the highest expression of compassion in difficult times when you are going through extreme grief losing your lovable family member, and at the same taking a tough decision of organ donation which offers a second chance at life to those battling with end-stage failure of heart, liver, lungs kidney and pancreas. We express our profound gratitude to the families of deceased organ donors, whose selfless decisions have inspired the others by bringing a change in the belief and culture of organ donation. He said that this honour belongs the deceased and their families whose noble decisions brought a light of life to dying patients and smile to their families, to every member of our transplant programme and state administrative services for creating green corridor and other logistics support. It inspires us to further strengthen organ donation awareness, enhance transplant services, and continue working tirelessly to save more lives through advanced critical care and transplantation.
