Hoshiarpur, August 27, 2013:   Punjab government has approved a comprehensive plan. Under this plan Rs. 224.35 crore for sewerage and Rs. 20.18 crore for water supply projects has been approved for district Hoshiarpur.
This was stated by Sohan Singh Thandal Chief Parlimentry Secretary, Punjab Government, he  said that the work on most of the projects have been initiated and the work on remaining projects would be commenced soon.
In Hoshiarpur city the projects of Rs. 11.90 crore for water supply and Rs. 102.75 crore for sewerage were in pipeline. He said that the deadline for completion of water supply projects has been fixed as December 31, 2013.
The Mukerian sewerage project, of Rs. 15.85 crore and water supply project worth Rs. 75 lakh are  in progress. Similarly in Dasuya the work on sewerage projects worth Rs. 10.82 crore and water supply projects worth Rs. 1.53 crore was also underway.
Thandal further said that in Tanda, projects to the tune of Rs. 24.75 crore for sewerage and Rs. 1.67 crore for water supply were in progress, whereas for the city Shamchurasi Rs. 7.75 crore has been approved for sewerage project and that  work was  also in progress.
He said that the city Gharshankar has been allocated Rs. 40.27 crore for sewerage projects and Rs. 1.70 crore for water supply projects.For Ghardiwal Rs. 8.42 crore for sewerage projects and Rs. 89 lakh for water supply projects has been sanctioned.
He said that the cities and towns of the Punjab have been acquiring face lift these days.
 He said that the Punjab Government has been working on two pronged strategy under which supply of essential commodities like water sewerage system and street lights and setting up and up gradation of infrastructure of roads was the priority for the Government.
