District Electoral Officer exhorts to ensure free, fair and impartial election

Nawanshahr, March 18, 2014: District Electoral Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner, Anindita Mitra has exhorted the political parties and the electorates to adhere to the morality during the poll process to ensure free, fair and impartial Lok Sabha election scheduled to be held on April 30 in the district.

“If any person threatens any candidate, voter or any other person to cause any harm in connection with casting of vote, then he/ she is liable to be penalised under section 171 C of Indian Penal Code, under which one year imprisonment or fine or both can be imposed”, said the District Electoral Officer and that flying squads had been constituted to register cases for giving or receiving bribe. She appealed the general public to strictly shun any undue gratification while exercising their right to vote and to report if any poll related malpractice come to their notice at the Toll Free number, 1800-180-2214 of the Complaint Monitoring Cell, which function round the clock at the district headquarter.
