District administration fully prepared to meet incoming winter season: DC, Kangra

Dharamshala, November 29, 2017: The Deputy Commissioner of Kangra Mr CP Verma has assured Chief Secretary of the state Mr VC Farakka that the district administration is fully prepared to meet the oncoming winter season in the district. Verma said, "In Kangra District, Bada Bhangal area of the district usually remains cut off during the snowfall. All the departments have been instructed to speed up the supplies of food, medicine extra in the area well in advance.”
Bara Bangal is a remote village situated 15 km from Thamsar Pass in Kangra District. It lies at an elevation of about 2,575 m.Ravi River flows through Bara Bangal. The village is surrounded by the Bara Bangal Ranges ,is inhabited by Kanet families of the Gaddis tribe. Bada Bhangal is a tribal village situate,can be reached from Bir near Baijnath or from Chamba. Bada Bhangal village is open for 6 months in a year. Rest of the time trails to Bada Bhangal village closed due to bad weather and heavy snowfall in the mountain passes.

Verma said that the concerned departments have been instructed to act according to snow manual. Earlier the Deputy Commissioner presided over a meeting to discuss the preparedness regarding impending winter season, which was attend by all the HoDs of the district level government departments in Dharamshala on Wednesday.
