Deputy Commissioner appeals youth to exercise their right of franchise in polls, motivates to perform the duties sincerely

District Administration celebrates National Voters Day today

Ludhiana, January 25, 2022: The district administration celebrated the National Voters Day through video conferencing today. Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma was the chief guest of the function.

Motivating the youth to exercise their right to vote in the elections, he urged them to vote in large numbers during the elections. He told them about the importance of the day being celebrated from January 25, 2011, and to protect the democracy, voting is one of the greatest tools given by our constitution.

He said that casting the vote is our duty and everyone should perform the duty sincerely as it would ensure the protection of the rights. He said that we all feel proud to be residing in a free country like India, but all of us should also understand that India gained independence after a lot of struggle. He said that all of us should work hard for strengthening our democracy by exercising our right to vote, which is our duty as well.

On this occasion, several officials were honoured for their work regarding work done in maximum registration of voters in age group 18-19. SDM Samrala Vikramjeet Singh Panthey, was honoured with certificate of appreciation for being the best Electoral Registration Officer of District Ludhiana, Varinder Kumar Pathak, Chemistry Lecturer, Govt. Sen. Sec. School, Multipurpose, Ludhiana as the Best Nodal Officer and Jaspreet Singh, Punjabi Teacher, Gov. Sr. Sec. School, Rupalon as the Best Booth Level Officer in District Ludhiana.

EPIC cards were also handed over to first time voters namely Abhinav Prashar, Sheetal, Gurleen Kaur and Komal Sharma.

The Deputy Commissioner also administered oath of exercising their right to vote in a free and fair manner to all those present on the occasion.
