Kohli, Chief Engineer (Distribution), PSPCL Patiala and Rachhpal Singh, Chief Engineer, PSPCL Ludhiana with Captains of Ludhiana industry late in the evening on Tuesday at CICU Complex here.
Interacting with the members of the Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU) Ludhiana, Rajat Aggarwal said that in line with the direction of Punjab Government, the proposal for converting Knitwear Facility Centre into an Exhibition Centre for Industries is under active consideration. All Revenue Officials have been suitably advised to remain in office and in case of emergency another Official will be available for attending to public. Skill Development programme to meet out requirements of industrial sector will be implemented on receipt of relevant database. For carrying out repair and maintenance of roads, sewerage system and street lights, development of parks and extension of city bus service for Focal Point area detailed discussions with Commissioner, Municipal Corporation will be held for providing immediate respite to industrialists. Commissioner of Police will be advised for increasing police surveillance on the eve of payment of salary and advance to factory workers. Imposition of property tax is policy matter of Punjab Government therefore relevant points will be submitted to appropriate authority for consideration. The discrepancy in Collector Rates if any will be sorted out immediately. Aggarwal advised officials of Punjab Pollution Control Board and Punjab State Power Corporation Limited to hold monthly meeting with industrialists for addressing their problems.
Rachhpal Singh, Chief Engineer, PSPCL informed that Special Committee which was formed for overall development of Ludhiana has already submitted report to Chairman and Managing Director, PSPCL for incurring expenditure of Rs. 413 crores for up gradation and maintenance of systems, shifting and replacement of poles causing traffic hindrances, opening of new power houses and other allied works. All other points will be considered amicably.
Avtar Singh, General Secretary CICU, presented memorandum to Rajat Aggarwal regarding Provision of Common Exhibition Centre for Ludhiana industries, non-availability of Revenue Officials during office hours, alignment of skill development as per industry manpower requirements, showcasing “Made-in-Ludhiana-Brand”, campus placement for passing out batches of students, speeding up repair of roads and sewerage system, extending local bus service, development of parks and increasing police surveillance in Focal Point, Ludhiana.
Upkar Singh, Joint Secretary CICU, presented memorandum to Rachhpal Singh regarding review of exorbitant charges, Master Plan for availability of power connection, timely completion of power projects to ensure adequate power availability, foundry having induction furnace with power connection up to 1000 KW should be treated under General Category, payments of power bills, up-gradation of Distribution System, maintaining high voltage transmission lines and reducing down time.
While presenting vote of thanks, Manjit Singh Khalsa, Vice President, CICU thanked Rajat Aggarwal, G.S. Kohli and Rachhpal Singh for acceding to most of the issues raised by key industrialists and also requested them to take pro active approach on other pending issues.
