Disbursement of quota of atta-dal of December and January from next month: Grewal

Chandigarh, December 31, 2013: The Punjab Government would disburse the due quota of Atta and Dal of December month to all the eligible beneficiaries along with the installment of January from the next month, under its flagship program of Atta-Dal scheme.
Disclosing this here today the Secretary Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Dharamjeet Singh Grewal said that the work of identifying the eligible beneficiaries under the new Atta-Dal in the state was going on in full swing. He said that the beneficiaries enrolled under the new scheme would be issued Blue cards to avail the Atta and Dal at subsidised rates. He said that the work of computerising the entire record of forms collected under the new scheme was also being carried on at war footing, by respective district administrations.
Reiterating the firm commitment of the state government to distribute the Atta-Dal under the new scheme expeditiously, Grewal said that the department was fully prepared to implement this scheme in the right earnest.
It might be recalled that the state government has already announced to double the eligible beneficiaries of this flagship scheme from existing 15 lakh to 30 lakh.
