Disaster management plan will be made for all schools, will be uploaded on mobile app

Dharamsala, December 30, 2023: A comprehensive disaster management plan for all schools in Kangra district is underway, with the intention to upload it onto the School Safety Mobile App. 

To facilitate this process, a one-day training workshop was conducted by the District Disaster Management Authority on Saturday at the Mini Secretariat auditorium in Dharamshala. This session was attended by Block Elementary Education Officers and Nodal Officers from schools.

Inaugurating the workshop, ADM Rohit Rathore highlighted the significance of the State Disaster Management Authority's mobile application, designed to aid schools in crafting robust disaster management plans. The app will enable schools to strategize and implement disaster management procedures, including conducting mock drills in adherence to guidelines, which can be easily monitored at higher administrative levels.

Emphasizing the sensitivity of schools as places where numerous children receive education concurrently, Rathore stressed the importance of preparing a disaster management plan for educational institutions. He underscored the need to raise awareness among students about potential disasters, recognizing them as effective conduits for disseminating information on disaster management throughout society. Rathore issued a directive to upload the disaster management plans onto the mobile app within a month.

During the welcome address, Bhanu Sharma, the Coordinator of the District Disaster Management Authority, provided detailed insights into the workshop. The training focused on equipping Education Department nodal officers with the skills to formulate disaster management plans and upload them onto the School Safety Mobile App. Nodal officers, following their training, are expected to cascade this knowledge to other authorized teachers in schools, ensuring the creation of disaster management plans for all educational institutions. Additionally, efforts will be made to educate children about the School Safety App during this process.
