Jalandhar, June 24, 2019: Taking into account the present day needs of students and the importance of English language for their all-round growth, a special workshop on phonetics, pronunciation and the correct use of English was organized at DIPS school UE-1 . CAO Mr Ramneek Singh graced the occasion as chief guest. Mrs. Monica Mandotra, CEO DIPS Chain of Institutions inaugurated the workshop. She lamented that lesser emphasis was being laid on phonetics, sound and correct pronunciation in the class-room teaching. There fore , it is urgent required that the English language teachers take up this activity in their classes. This workshop she pointed out, was being specially organized with this aim. DIPS Chain , she remarked has always been making sincerest efforts to provide the latest information to the students, Mrs. Monika Mehta, the Pre-Wing Adviser enlightened the teachers regarding sound-mechanism, Phonetics and sentence construction . She stressed that the pre wing teachers should be very particular about correct pronunciation ,their face expression and the position of lips while teaching sounds and words. she also pointed out that sometimes regional language and dialects also influence and spoil the pronunciation e.g the sound ‘s ’ instead of ‘sh’ (s ), ‘b’ instead of ‘v ’ and ‘o’ (a ) instead of ‘au’, etc. These defects can be easily rectified with practice ,she said ,the participating teachers were given DVD’s and print outs that would help them learn correct phonetic symbols and sounds. The teachers had brought one teaching aid each, and the best designed and useful teaching aid was given a special prize. More than 100 teachers from different DIPS schools were present to make the workshop a success.
