Mumbai (Anil Bedag): Strengthening India’s digital infrastructure capabilities, Equinix has launched its fourth International Business Exchange (IBX) data center, MB3, in Mumbai. The state-of-the-art facility comes at a crucial time when demand for artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and data localization is witnessing rapid growth across the country.
Built with an initial investment of approximately $95 million, the data center has been launched with a capacity of over 1,370 cabinets, which can be scaled up to more than 5,400 cabinets in the future. Featuring a high-density design, liquid cooling systems, and energy-efficient technologies, MB3 has been specifically developed to support AI, machine learning, and other data-intensive applications.
Cyrus Adaggra, President of Asia-Pacific at Equinix, emphasized India’s growing importance in the region, saying, “India is playing a pivotal role in shaping the digital future of Asia-Pacific, and MB3 significantly enhances our ability to support that growth.”
Meanwhile, Manoj Paul, Managing Director of Equinix India, highlighted the importance of robust infrastructure in the era of hybrid multicloud and large-scale AI. “In today’s digital landscape, strong and interconnected infrastructure is essential to support innovation and scalability,” he said. Located in Chandivali, Powai, the MB3 facility is powered entirely by renewable energy. It not only accelerates India’s digital ecosystem but also represents a significant step toward sustainable and environmentally responsible growth.
