Dharamshala, July 21, 2015: One of the most picturesque cricket stadium of the world, the HPCA Dharamshala has been chosen as one of the eight venues to host the 2016 World Cup T20 Cricket Championship being organised in India. According to the sources seven other cities to host the show are Kolkata, Bangalore, Chennai, Mohali, Mumbai, Nagpur and Delhi.
"BCCI is extremely proud to host this prestigious event," BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur said, "All the identified  venues  including Dharamshala in the mountain lap, have hosted many prestigious matches. With this announcement, we have begun our preparations in right earnest. We want this World Twenty20 to be a memorable experience for our participants and fans."
HPCA spokesperson Sanjay Sharma said that organisers have promised 4 to 5 world cup matches at Dharamshala. “We are really thankful to BCCI President Jagmohan Dalmia and Secretary Anurag Thakur for promoting this centre as the world up center”, he added.
BCCI managing committee for World T20 announced as, Jagmohan Dalmiya, president (chairman), Anurag Thakur, secretary, Amitabh Choudhary, joint secretary, Anirudh Chaudhry, treasurer, G Ganga Raju, vice-president, Rajeev Shukla, chairman, IPL, Ashish Shelar, vice-president, MCA, and Asirbad Behera, secretary, OCA.
The World Twenty20 shall begin on March 11 next year. Kolkata will host the final on April 3.
