Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Jayanti Celebrated at Panjab University Girls Hostel
Devi Ahilyabai Hall, Girls Hostel No. 11, Panjab University, Chandigarh, under the aegis of the Dean Student Welfare, celebrated the birth anniversary of Devi Ahilyabai Holkar on May 31.
Chandigarh, June 1, 2026: Devi Ahilyabai Hall, Girls Hostel No. 11, Panjab University, Chandigarh, under the aegis of the Dean Student Welfare, celebrated the birth anniversary of Devi Ahilyabai Holkar on May 31.
On the occasion, Dr Varinder Kaur, Warden of the hostel, shared with the hostel residents and staff the inspiring life and contributions of Devi Ahilyabai Holkar. She highlighted her dedication to public welfare, justice, and social service, and encouraged everyone to learn from her values and leadership. To commemorate the occasion, the residents and staff planted a litchi sapling in the backyard of the hostel in her memory.
The plantation was carried out as a tribute to her legacy and as a step towards promoting environmental awareness. The residents and staff paid their respects to the great queen and remembered her contributions to society.
The programme concluded with a message from Prof Namita Gupta, Dean Student Welfare (Women), who urged everyone to follow the ideals of service, compassion, and responsibility embodied by Devi Ahilyabai. She emphasized that Devi Ahilyabai Holkar continues to remain a symbol of visionary leadership and humanitarian service. Celebrating her birth anniversary provides an opportunity to remember her enduring legacy and inspire young minds to uphold the ideals of integrity, inclusiveness, and public service.
