Despite registration of FIRs, AAP trying to do politics over Vikaspuri road row: Delhi BJP

New Delhi, Sep 29 (IANS) Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said on Tuesday that after the unfortunate incident in Vikaspuri, allegedly orchestrated by AAP MLA Jarnail Singh, the Delhi Police has registered cases against Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh, the MLA, and others.

He said that despite this police action, AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj's continued protests are condemnable and amount to an attempt to vitiate Delhi’s political atmosphere.

The Delhi BJP spokesperson said that while it is true that MLA Jarnail Singh has been winning elections continuously since 2013, it is also a fact that allegations have been levelled against him from the very beginning of harassing Municipal Corporation and government employees, builders and contractors of various government departments, and making various demands from them.

The entire record of MLA Jarnail Singh has been questionable since 2013–15, ranging from police complaints filed by Municipal Corporation engineers to allegations of assaulting civic employees and appointing as his aide a person who allegedly used a Dubai phone number.

MLA Jarnail Singh is accountable to the people of Delhi for these matters, said Kapoor.

The Delhi BJP spokesperson said that while the unfortunate incident involving Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh should never have happened, the revelations regarding MLA Jarnail Singh following the incident have brought his record into focus.

Kapoor said AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj is continuing to stage protests even after police action, in an attempt to divert the attention of Delhi and Tilak Nagar residents.

Meanwhile, newly appointed Delhi BJP Co-Incharge and former MP Darshana Jardosh visited the Delhi BJP office on Tuesday, formally assumed her new responsibility, and held discussions with the senior leadership of the Delhi BJP on organisational matters.

Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra, Organisation General Secretary Pawan Rana, General Secretary Vishnu Mittal, Yogita Singh and Mohanlal Gihara welcomed and felicitated the newly appointed Co-Incharge Jardosh.

During the meeting, Jardosh said that the party will now work with greater focus and proactiveness to strengthen its outreach among women and youth through the Mahila Morcha and Yuva Morcha.

Jardosh has served as an MP from Surat, Gujarat, for three terms. She holds the record as the woman candidate who won the Lok Sabha elections with the highest number of votes in the country in both 2014 and 2019.

In another development, Harsh Malhotra welcomed the regularisation of 890 temporary sanitation workers under the daily wage category and 72 temporary sanitation workers under the compassionate category by the BJP-administered Municipal Corporation of Delhi during the one month from August 28 to September 29.

He thanked Mayor Pravesh Wahi, DEMS Chairman Sandeep Kapoor, and Standing Committee Chairperson Satya Sharma.

The Delhi BJP President said that since the BJP returned to the MCD administration in 2025, the BJP administration has regularised the services of around 2,550 temporary sanitation workers. In contrast, the Aam Aadmi Party-led MCD regularised fewer than 500 sanitation workers in two years during 2023-24 and 2024-25.

The Delhi BJP President said that the BJP is committed to ensuring a better life for sanitation workers and their families. Therefore, fulfilling the promise made in the 2025 Assembly Election Sankalp Patra, we are regularising the services of temporary sanitation workers in a time-bound manner.
