Ludhiana, July 29, 2026: The Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana today chaired a meeting with industrialists, brick kiln owners, and concerned departments to promote the use of paddy straw as fuel through pellets and briquettes.
The Deputy Commissioner directed industries and brick kilns to increase the adoption of paddy straw-based fuel and instructed all concerned departments to resolve issues related to storage, transportation, machinery compatibility, and uninterrupted supply of paddy straw.
The District Development and Panchayat Officer (DDPO) was directed to identify suitable land for paddy straw storage and develop the required infrastructure in a time-bound manner. The DC also emphasized strengthening the supply chain, ensuring the availability of balers, and providing all necessary support to industries for a smooth transition to paddy straw-based fuel.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed that coordinated efforts by all stakeholders are essential to reduce stubble burning, protect the environment, and promote sustainable industrial practices. All departments were directed to work in close coordination to achieve the district's paddy straw management targets.
