Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana takes 2nd jab of Covid19 vaccine today

Ludhiana: Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma today took second jab of Covid19 vaccine at Dayanand Medical College & Hospital, here. His wife Parveen Sharma took first jab of vaccine too.

After getting vaccinated today, the Deputy Commissioner urged the residents to strictly follow all Covid19 related guidelines and assured that the district administration is keeping a close eye over the situation simmering due to the second wave of the Covid-19. 

The deputy commissioner said the people above 60 years (senior citizens) and those between 45-59 years (with co-morbidities) can easily get vaccinated for Covid19 vaccine by visiting their nearest private or government hospital as it was the only key to keep virus at a bay. 

He warned that the total number of new cases has swollen by four times as compared to the total cases last week. He said that for the safety of residents, night curfew has already been enforced in the district. He mentioned that organizers and invitees of public events must think twice before their act as large gathering could take a heavy toll on all of us. 

He said that there are many countries in the world that are longing for the vaccine but we are lucky that our scientists have developed it well in time and it is our duty to come forward for the vaccination.

He informed that the vaccination is completely free of cost at government hospitals and centres, private establishments cannot charge more than Rs 250 for each beneficiary (per dose) which includes Rs 150 as cost of vaccine and upto Rs 100 service charges. Private hospitals cannot charge more than Rs 100 per person (per dose) for services, he said.

He informed that for the third phase of the vaccination drive, beneficiaries can do advance self-registration through WWW.COWIN.GOV.IN or they can also go for on-site registrations by walking-in at the designated hospitals and vaccination centres.
He appealed people to visit any of the healthcare institution along with their Aadhar card to get the vaccine jab.
