Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain Turns Teacher for a Day, Honours District's Best Teachers on Teacher's Day

Ludhiana, September 5, 2026: On the occasion of Teacher's Day, the Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana, Mr Himanshu Jain today conducted special classroom sessions for students at School of Eminence, Kidwai Nagar and School of Eminence, Millerganj, stepping into the role of a teacher to interact directly with students of government schools. District Education Officer Dimple Madaan and Head of Governance Cell Ambar Bandopadhyay were also present on the occasion.
At School of Eminence, Kidwai Nagar, the Deputy Commissioner taught the topic of Classification of Matter to students of Classes 9th and 10th, while at School of Eminence, Millerganj, he taught Fractions to students of Classes 6th and 7th. Both topics were specifically chosen as they correspond to learning outcomes identified in the PARAKH (National Achievement Survey) report. Through activity-based, experiential teaching methods — including hands-on experiments and real-life examples — the sessions aimed to strengthen students' conceptual understanding and move away from rote learning in these identified gap areas.
Beyond academics, Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain spent time interacting closely with the students, motivating them to work hard and dream big. He encouraged them to stay committed to their studies and wished them the very best for their future endeavours.
Later in the day, marking Teacher's Day, the Deputy Commissioner felicitated eight best-performing teachers of the district in recognition of their dedication and outstanding contribution to the field of education. The teachers honoured were:

 * Arjun Kumar (DPE – Physical Education), Multipurpose
 * Surjeet Kaur (Punjabi Mistress), SOE Model Town
 * Rajwinder Kaur (Social Studies Mistress), PM SHRI GSSS Ayali Khurd
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner, lauded the tireless efforts of teachers in shaping the future of the district's children and reaffirmed the district administration's commitment to strengthening the quality of education in government schools.
The initiative is part of the district administration's ongoing efforts to bridge learning gaps and promote experiential, student-centric teaching methods in government schools across Ludhiana.
