Department of Sociology, Panjab University organizes Sociology PU Alumni Meet

Chandigarh, November 30, 2019: The Department of Sociology, Panjab University had a Sociology PU Alumni Meet for the first time as part of the Global PU alumni meet organized on November 28 and 29 by Panjab University. Dr.Rani Mehta , Chairperson initiated the interactive session of the alumni meet which consisted of three generations of alumnis by extending a warm welcome to the senior alumni members who enrich the younger alumni with their vast ocean of knowledge and constant support and guidance. She also welcomed the young alumni who are the innovators and think out of the box to bring a new perspective to sociology. She highlighted the need for more such initiatives to be taken and thanked the Vice Chancellor Prof Raj Kumar for encouraging such events and giving opportunity to various departments like sociology to bring together their alumni. Prof Rajesh Gill, PUTA president and an eminent alumni shared her experiences in the department very vividly and appreciated this initiative. The various alumni who are placed in good positions in universities and colleges had a very fruitful interaction which was followed by cultural activities involving singing by the faculty and Ms.Rinku Kalia, sociology department alumni teaching in SD College and a former SaReGaMa finalist enthralled the audience with her soothing and melodious voice. The event was well attended by large number of participants including renowned retired faculty, present faculty from university and colleges and research scholars.
